Brazil national team – Uruguay national team 1950 World Cup
In 1950, the world championship, the fourth in a row, and the first, held after World War II, hosted Brazil. Millions of hot Brazilian fans remembered, of course, that in the I and II championships the winners were the hosts of the tournaments. They also remembered that at the last pre-war championship in 1938, in distant Europe, the Brazilian national team reached the semifinals, where they lost, as every Brazilian firmly knew, only because the coach did not install Leonidas. He owned feints no worse than the Brazilian wizard Garrincha, perfectly and accurately hit with both legs, played well in the air, picked up speed from the spot and jerked away from defenders … And, of course, scored goals, a lot of goals.
